We're Still Going.... September 30, 2009

Well we were suppose to be closed and moving in the house by today - but due to some things out of our reach and Tilson's we are not quite in there yet but hopefully soon. For now here's an update on what the house is looking like at this time. We finally got the shutters up and the yard has been filled in and graded. The house is really looking great - the inside needs carpet, paint touch-ups and clean-up and we should be ready to go. Oh and let's not forget the whole reason we didn't close - we need permanent electricity.....

August 26th - August 28th

August 26th, 2009 - Cabinets have been installed. Pictures are not doing it justice - can't wait for the counter tops!

August 27th, 2009 - Nothing really happened today! We did talk to the Propane man today and now we have more action items and money to spend!

August 28th, 2009 - Today they came by and tiled the small bathroom (couldn't get to it to get pictures and the kitchen - YEAH! Oh and they came and put in the ceiling insulation.

Now for the House Percentage of Completion:

Ceiling Insulation - 1%

Cabinetry - 5%

Total Complete: 79.5%

August 14th - August 25, 2009

Well time flies when you're having fun! A lot has happened over the past two weeks - the house is really starting to look like a house on the inside now. Our Super told me Friday, 8/21/09 that he expects the house to be complete by the first two weeks in October. So we will be in the house on time and just in time for the holidays!

August 14th, 2009 - Started taping and floating the drywall. Completed a rough start everywhere except top 4 foot of the family room ceilings.
August 15th, 2009 - More Taping and Floating - finished the rough start on the upper part of the Family room.

August 17th, 2009 - Inside - Worked on Floating on all the walls (looks like Zebra Walls - I think every inch of the drywall has the "mud" compound on it.
Outside - the Well and Septic crew came out and started working on the Septic and would work on the well when possible (lots of lightening and light raining down here). Oh and Centerpoint put in our temporary meter this afternoon - YEAH Electricity!
August 18th, 2009 - Inside - Finished up Tape and Float job - Outside they worked on the well today (still raining off and on around town!)

August 19th, 2009 - Outside - they finished up the Well and Septic - we now have our own Small Sewer Treatment Plant and Grass Waterer! August 20th, 2009 - Came out and Textured the walls - Looks like light colored mud machine blew up everywhere! Not really - it looks really nice!

August 21st - I think everyone took a day off!
August 22nd, 2009 - Our Inside Doors, Trim, Shutters and wood for shelves was delivered.

August 23rd, 2009 - The "Trim" crew came out and put in the doors, layed all the trim and put up the shelving in the closets and pantry.

August 24th, 2009 - Painter came out and painted the walls and shelves today.

August 25th, 2009 - Painter came out and painted the doors, shutters, and trim work. Our cabinets for the kitchen and the bathrooms were delivered today! Hopefully those will be in tomorrow.

Now for the House Percentage of completion:
Drywall Tape & Float - 1%

Interior Trim & Doors - 5%

Interior Paint - 3%

Total Complete: 73.5%

August 13th, 2009

They finished the brick work today so I took a picture from Kilgore Lane of the house. They also delivered all the supplies to Tape and Float the drywall! YEAH! No Well yet, No Temporary Meter from Centerpoint (by the time we get the temp in we'll be ready for the permanent meter).

Now for the House Percentage of completion:

Brick Installed - 6%

Second Rough Clean-up - 0.5%
Total Complete: 64.5%

August 5th - August 12th, 2009

Ok - I know I'm behind again. So here to we go:

August 5th, 2009 - Painters came out and painted the trim.

August 6th, 2009 - 1/2 of the Wall Insulation was put in along with the added beam in the study and a few other things that needed to be done.

August 10th, 2009 - Started the Brick work on the house and completed nearly half.

August 11th, 2009 - 2nd day of brick work - Nearly finished but not quite (see picture above) - Sheetrock was delivered today.

August 12th, 2009 - The guys came out and hung all of the drywall - now we can really see how the house is turning out on the inside. (I'm sure finished the wall insulation before they hung the drywall.)

This week we are suppose to be getting our well and Centerpoint is suppose to be putting in the temporary meter (now that work is nearly done)

Now for the House Percentage of completion:
Exterior Paint - 1%

Wall Insulation- 1%
Drywall Hung - 3%
Total Complete: 58%

July 29th - August 4th, 2009

Okay so I'm a little behind and don't feel like making a new post for each day that work was done so I'm going to group and go. Here's the breakdown for the past few days:

July 29th, 2009 - Windows were installed and the Pocket Door was installed in the correct place.

July 30th, 2009 - Electrician came out and put the electrical output in the correct spot on the house - Shingles were delivered.

July 31st, 2009 - YEAH they put the shingles on the roof and I finally have something new to take a picture of.

August 3rd, 2009 - Centerpoint finally came out and put up our electric poles and ran electricity to the house. (Now I have more work to do!)

August 4th, 2009 - Came out and cleaned up some of the trash from around the house and made it look nicer outside. The Super came in and marked some studs that he didn't like that he wants replaced, he wants them to add a beam in the ceiling in the study and they made our pantry door 20 inches when it should have been 28 inches so he tagged that also. The picture was taken Sunday before the trash was picked up!

This week the painters will be painting the outside of the house, the house is suppose to be bricked on Friday (yeah time for more pictures) and the sheetrock is suppose to be delivered on Friday also.

Roofing Delivered and Installed - 3%

Electrical Rough-In - 3%

Total Complete: 53%

I will try to keep things up to date a little better (hopefully the family will stay out of automobile accidents and such!)

July 28th, 2009

Whew - Well sometime in the night Monday (7/27/09) or early Tuesday (7/28/09) the brick was delivered - now to just see it on the house. Well the HVAC "Rough-in" was completed today that leaves us at 47% completed.
